Legal notice and privacy
In short: this website collects no personal data. There are no accounts, forms, analytics, ads or third-party resources. What you write in the editor never leaves your browser.
Who runs it
Cooking Chart is a personal, non-profit project by David Clothier. The website sells nothing and offers no paid services.
Contact: hello@cookingchart.org.
What data is processed
- None through the website. There are no accounts, forms or comments. All the recipe work (reading the CCL, scheduling and drawing the chart) happens in your browser.
- Recipes in the editor are not sent to the server. When you copy a link, the recipe travels in the part of the address after
#, which never reaches the server. - “Convert with your AI” only copies text to your clipboard. If you paste it into an AI service, what happens there depends on that service and its terms.
- Server logs. Like any website, the hosting provider (Hostinger) technically logs each request: IP address, date, page requested and browser. They keep the site running and protected against abuse, and are not used for anything else. The legal basis is legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), and Hostinger acts as data processor.
- If you write to the email address, your address and message are used only to reply to you and are never shared. You can ask for them to be deleted at any time.
Cookies and browser storage
There are no analytics, advertising or third-party cookies, which is why there is no cookie banner. Only what is strictly needed for the site to remember your choices is stored. These are technical items, exempt from consent under Art. 22(2) of the Spanish LSSI and the ePrivacy Directive:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
lang | First-party cookie | Remember the language you chose | 1 year |
cc-view | Local storage | Remember the view you chose: chart, method or work plan | Until you clear it |
ccl-draft | Local storage | Keep your editor draft so you don’t lose it when closing the tab | Until you clear it |
None of this leaves your device. You can clear it from your browser settings.
No third-party resources
Fonts, styles and the charting library (d3) are served from cookingchart.org itself. Visiting the site does not connect your browser to Google or to any other service.
Links to other sites, such as the GitHub repository, lead to pages with their own terms.
Charts embedded on other websites
When a website embeds a Cooking Chart, your browser downloads the component, d3 and, where applicable, the recipe from cookingchart.org. Those requests appear in the server logs described above. The component stores no cookies or data. Whoever publishes the embedding page is responsible for it.
Your rights
You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability by writing to hello@cookingchart.org. If you believe they have not been respected, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) or with your local data protection authority.
